Visitation Ministry

"Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord."

- James 5:14

Mission Statement:

We will offer encouragement, assistance, and kindness through visitation, to those who have become ill, physically incapacitated, or have lost a close family member.

Purpose:

The Visitation Ministry will minister to our church family when they are sick at home, sick in the hospital or in the case of an emergency with the family in the hospital emergency room to offer prayer and support. We are to be the first or among the first line of contact between members and the church for support during illness and emergencies. Also, the Visitation Ministry is that part of the Ministry of Care which consists of providing services for the bereaved, the long-term homebound, and the elderly among us.  The visitation ministry will also send out Get Well and Sympathy cards to those members who are sick or have lost a loved one.

We will minister to them in the following way:

  • Pray with them
  • Listen to their needs and concerns
  • Leave and Receive contact information of ill church member or the immediate family member for further contact as necessary
  • Attend wake service (if local)
  • Attend Funerals (if local).

Who Needs to Be Visited:

Anyone needing encouragement, comfort, or a sense of belonging would profit from a visit. While that could include everyone, there are certain individuals who especially need to be reminded that they aren't forgotten. These are people who can feel rather lonely at times:

  • Elderly people still living independently especially if they are shut-ins
  • Elderly or disabled people living in nursing homes
  • People who are disabled and living at home
  • People who are sick for a prolonged period of time
  • People who are hospitalized
  • Bereaved people
